Iran
- 40% Production Decline Due to Line Shutdowns
The Iranian Tile and Ceramic Producers Association has announced that production in this industry has dropped by around 40%. From the usual output of about 500 million square meters, nearly 200 million square meters less will be produced this year. One of the main reasons for this decline is production line shutdowns caused by power outages. - Decrease in Exports
Along with the decline in production, exports have also decreased—especially in markets such as Iraq, which is one of the most important export destinations. Overall tile and ceramic exports have fallen. - Economic and Infrastructure Challenges
Issues such as high production costs (energy, raw materials), problems in electricity supply and infrastructure, and the inability to compete with cheaper foreign products have all negatively affected the performance of this industry.
World
- Growth of the Global Market
Reports indicate that the global tile and ceramic market is growing, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5% to 7% in the coming years. The market value is projected to reach around $227–230 billion by 2030. - Decline in Production and Consumption in Some Countries
In China, one of the major production hubs, tile and ceramic production declined in 2024 (about a 12% decrease), and installed capacity exceeded actual utilization.
Global consumption and production of tiles and ceramics in 2023 also declined compared to the previous year, with reductions in both imports and exports. - Trends and Innovations
- Unglazed ceramics hold a significant market share; it is projected to grow from about $96.4 billion in 2024 to around $149.25 billion by 2032.
- Innovative products such as tile liners, which serve decorative and border purposes, are experiencing strong growth.
- Consumer preference is increasingly shifting toward tiles with high durability, attractive designs, wood/stone-like natural simulation, larger formats, and digital printing technology.
